Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about playing Music Brackets.

A music bracket is a tournament-style ranking system where songs go head-to-head. You compare songs one-by-one, vote on your favorite, and keep going until one song wins the full bracket.
From the home page, choose a game mode such as Artist Brackets, Custom Games, or Artist vs Artist. Then select your artist(s), pick a bracket size, choose single or double elimination, and start playing.
Single elimination means one loss ends the run. Double elimination gives a losing song one more chance in a lower bracket, making the tournament a bit more forgiving and longer.
Yes. Most matchups include track previews so you can listen before voting. You can also use the embedded player and music previews on the bracket page to compare songs before making a choice.
We pull songs from the selected artist's catalog, randomize the seeding, and build a matchup list automatically. The bracket size determines how many tracks are included in the tournament.
Custom games mix songs from across the database into one bracket. This mode is great when you want a fresh, unpredictable ranking challenge with different genres, eras, and artists.
You pick two artists, then their songs are combined into one bracket. Songs from both artists compete against each other to decide which artist's catalog has more fan-favorite tracks.
Yes. After finishing a bracket, you can save it locally and, if you sign in, you can also share or publish your results from the results screen for the community to view.
The Explore page is a community feed that shows recent and popular public brackets. It gives you a chance to see how other fans ranked songs and discover music you may not have heard before.
Yes. Music Brackets is free to use for personal music-ranking fun, and it is designed to be a lightweight, accessible music discovery tool for fans.
No. You can play most bracket modes without an account. You only need to sign in for cloud saves, public sharing, and some account-based features.
The catalog includes thousands of artists and songs across a wide range of genres and eras, and new music is added regularly.

Build Your Ultimate Bracket

Paste any Spotify playlist link and turn it into a head-to-head tournament of your favorite songs.

⚠️ Heads up: right now this only works with playlists you personally own on Spotify. Trying someone else's playlist - even a public one - will fail with an access error, since reading other users' playlists needs a separate approval from Spotify (Extended Quota Mode) that this app doesn't have yet.
